الإحساء هي المنطقة الشرقية من المملكة العربية السعودية وهي جمع حسي وهو الأرض المغطاة بطبقة رملية تختزن مياه الأمطار بحيث يمكن الحصول عليها نقية عذبة ولكثرة الأحسية في هذا الموقع عرفت المنطقة بالإحساء , يمتد تاريخها إلى عصور موغلة بالقدم لتشكل جزءا هاما من أرض الجزيرة العربية ومركزا تجاريا وسوقا نشطا للقوافل التجارية الواردة من الشام والحجاز والعراق والهند إليها , تعاقبت على هذه المنطقة ومنذ القدم دول وأقوام شتى إذ شكلّ الفينيقيون الدفعات الأولى من تلك الهجرات وجاء بعدهم الجرهائيون (فرع من الكلدانيين) وانضّمت بعد ذلك إلى الدولة العربية الإسلامية أبان الفتح الإسلامي ثم تتابع على حكمها العيونيون وال مغامس وخضعت المنطقة لاحقا للاحتلال البرتغالي الذي تم طرده على يد العثمانيين سنة 1551م. جاء اختيارنا لهذه الدراسة على ضوء ماتمتعت به الإحساء من أهمية جغرافية وتاريخية وصراعات داخلية ألقت بضلالها على مجمل الأوضاع في المنطقة التي تبوأت فيها موقعا هاما بعد إن أصبحت قاعدة للانطلاق صوب مناطق ساحل الخليج العربي وكان للتقاتل بين الأخوين عبد الله وسعود أبناء فيصل بن تركي آل سعود على الزعامة والنفوذ اثر كبير في ضياع الإحساء ردحا من الزمن بيد العثمانيين الذي استمر احتلالهم لها حتى سنة 1913م وهو العام الذي تمكن فيه عبد العزيز آل سعود من إنهاء الوجود العثماني ليصبح واليا على نجد والإحساء سنة 1914م . اقتضت طبيعة البحث تقسيمه إلى عدة فقرات كانت بدايتها التعرض إلى خلفية الإحساء الجغرافية والتاريخية ومن ثم عرجنا إلى دراسة أوضاعه الداخلية حتى عام 1871م وتطورات الأوضاع الداخلية حتى العام 1913م .} }
