TY - JOUR ID - TI - Sero – epidemiological study of brucellosis among patients with pyrexia of unknown origin in Najaf governorate AU - Kareem Ghaly Alzubaidy MBChB, DCM, MSc PY - 2008 VL - 11 IS - 1 SP - 132 EP - 138 JO - KUFA MEDICAL JOURNAL مجلة الكوفة الطبية SN - 1993517X 27094462 AB - Across – sectional study was done to know the role of brucellosis in the causing of pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO), two hundred fifty patients were enrolled in the present study during the period between march – 2005 and February – 2006 in Al – Najaf province. Clinical examination, general investigation and rose bengal test (R.B.T) were done for each patient. The present study showed that 20% of patient with PUO gave a positive Brucella antibody test. The disease seems to be more frequent in woman and more prevalent among rural patients. The peak of incidence is during July and August, and finally there was a positive correlation between severity of disease and agglutination titre of R.B.T.

لمعرفة دور الحمة المتموجة في أحداث الحمة غير مشخصة، أجريت دراسة مقطعية على (250) من المرضى في محافظة النجف الأشرف للفترة من نيسان من عام 2005 م ولغاية شهر شباط من عام 2006 م، وباستعمال مختلف الفحوص السريرية والمختبرية. تبين من الدراسة بأن 20% من أولئك المرضى مصابون بتلك الحمة، كما تبين بأن أكثر المصابين هم من الإناث، علاوة على كونهم في الغالب من المناطق الريفية. لوحظ من الدراسة أيضاً أنّ غالبية الإصابات حدثت في شهري تموز وآب من السنة التي أجريت فيها الدراسة، وأخيراً وجد ترابط قوي بين شدة الأعراض والعلامات المرضية وقوة المعيار الخاص بتشخيصها.
