Economic Analysis and Standard Price Policy for Crops Strategy in Iraq for the Period (1990-2013)

Abstract

The price policy one of the most important economic policies implemented by the state to increase and improve agricultural production on the one hand and provide food for all members of society at encouraging producers and is suitable for low-income consumers on the other hand, occupies the strategic grain crops a privileged position in the Iraqi economy, like other economies of the world and that food to its importance , having been in this research study economic analysis and the benchmark price for the policy of strategic crops in Iraq for the period (1990-2013). Where the search was based on three crops president of a (wheat, barley, and rice), being highly nutritious crops, they represent the backbone of food security of Iraq, where he was the record for the price of these crops is a group of (Y) and consisted of independent factors (b Production local and domestic consumption standard, price and policy support (nominal protection coefficient) and global price in dollars), has been relying on a time series in the estimation of the phenomenon data under discussion, and to reach the best results was the application of a standard model with four formats are (linear and half logarithmic and logarithmic inverse double logarithmic). And it adopted a stronger functions based on favorable than and superior in terms of statistical and benchmark tests, and ended the study with some conclusions and recommendations, including: that the world price of strategic crops (Alahtnh, barley, rice) was its impact positively and significantly on the record for the price of each of the barley crop, rice, while he was negative and not significant for the wheat crop. Expansion of the support provided by the state and that of what government support from a large role in encouraging and motivate farmers to increase agricultural production.
