Effects of Soil Conditioners Addition on Soil Aggregates Stability by Using Drip and Surface Irrigation methods, in Clay Soil Planted With Maize (Zeamays L.)

Abstract

An experiment was conducted in the field of the college of Agriculture of BasrahUniversity at Garmat Ali site during spring 2011-2012 . in clay soil texture, to study theeffect of adding soil conditioners, which include bitumen emulsion (0.5%) and organicresiduals (2%) on the physical properties of the soil and the efficiency of both irrigationsystems, drip and Surface irrigation Which included %100EP ، %75 EPand %50 EP. Maize(Zea mays L.) Class 106 Behoth was used as an indicator of the growth. The results showedthat the addition of conditioners lead to improvement in the mean weight diameter was goingup significantly. The level irrigation the %75 EP showed improvement in some physicalproperties of the soil, as it lead to significant increase in values of the mean weight diametercompared with levels 50% EP and 100% EP. Results also showed that the use of dripirrigation maintained the soil structure as a result of significant increase in values of the meanweight diameter compared with surface irrigation.
