أثر النشاط الزراعي على استنزاف المياه الجوفية في قضاء المحمودية

Abstract

The research aims to study The impact of agricultural activity on groundwater drainage in the district of Mahmudiyah . The thesis covers the study of the characteristics that have a direct impact on the level of productivity of the wells in the study area, namely: (depth, Static Water level, Dynamic Water level and productivity). It also studies groundwater investments in the field of agriculture. Total invested amount of water for agricultural and livestock purposes during the long summer in the study area is (603 717 996) cubic meters/ year, while the amount of well-produced water in the study area is (2,398,371) cubic meters/ year. It appears that when comparing the total amount of drained water and the total required amount of water for agriculture and livestock there is a water deficit reaching (601319625) cubic meters/ year. Accordingly, the underground reservoirs in the study area suffer from drainage in summer. In this season of the year there is a big demand on water and consequently reduces the level of groundwater. It has been noticed that there were many water wells which were neglected after they had been so productive in water because of their low level of water.
