Effect of Bio Fertilizer (EM1) and Phosphorus Fertilizer on Growth and Yield of Two Soybean Varieties [Glycine max (L.) Merrill]

Abstract

AbstractThis study was conducted to investigate effect of Bio fertilizer EM1 and phosphorus fertilizer on growth and yield of two Soybean Varieties [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] in a field experiment by using two concentrations of Biofertilizer EM1 (0 and 1.5 ml. L-1), four levels of phosphorus fertilizer (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg P2O5/ ha) and two soybean varieties (Lee-74 and Senaia-2). The experiment was conducted in two locations in the Summer Season 2011 (First at Reasreches station / Department of Field Crops/College of Agriculture and Forestry/Mosul University in Mosul City, while the second was in Tuzkhurmatu City) by using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The results obtained can be summarized as follows:Biofertilizer EM1caused a significant decrease in first branch height and a significant increase in total No. of branches/plant, percentage of fertility in the pods, pods weight/plant, No. of seeds/plant and seed yield . Phosphorus fertilizer level (80 kg P2O5/ ha) in Mosul location and (40 kg P2O5/ ha) in Tuzkhurmatu location caused a significant decrease in first branch height and a significant increas in total No. of branches/plant, percentage of fertility in the pods, pods weight/plant, No. of seeds/plant and seed yield. Lee-74 variety was significantly late as compared with Senaia-2 variety in No. of days to Physiological maturity in both locations, while Senaia-2 variety gave Significantly a least rate of first branch height, a highest rate in percentage of fertility in the pods, pods weight/ plant, No. of seeds/plant and seed yield as compared to Lee-74 variety.
