Identifying Level and Grade Criteria for Assessing Physical and Skill Qualities of Taekwondo Players in the Governorate of Basra

Abstract

This study consists of five sections. Section One includes an introduction, significance of the study. It Sheds some light on the role played by the physical skills in sports in general and in Taekwondo in particular. It also refers to the importance of tests and measurements since means of evaluation tells a lot about the levels of the players’ performance. A number of criteria have been set to determine the weak points lying behind failure or lack of progression on the part of the sample of Basra players.Section Two introduces the concepts of power and speed and the relationship between them. It also contains a survey Taekwondo and a set of relevant skills and qualifications.Section Three is on the descriptive approach and the procedures followed in this study. The purposeful sample has 30 subjects. Two pilot studies have been conducted to make sure of the details such as the practicality of the tools and devices in use and to identify the timing of the experiment.Section Four presents the results and analysis of the results as well as the standard deviation in question.Section Five includes a number of results and recommendations. Among these resultse the following:1. The level of the players was intermediate or even lower. And this is a main weak-point. These players should have been very good at least.2. The performance of the players was much less than that of the advanced.3. The subjects of this study lack enthusiasm and motivation.Some of the recommendations read as follows:1. Taekwondo players should be examined regularly to get the helpful feedback.2.These players should have a number of competitions that lead to assessment of the training course to see whether it was a success or not.3.The training programme should make use of best techniques that make the players improve their performance.
