The level of history teachers' participation in teaching skills and their relation to the acquisition of historical skills for students

Abstract

The present study aims to identify the level of history teachers' practice of teaching skills and their relation to the acquisition of historical skills for students.The sample of the study consisted of (20) male and female high school history teachers and (500) equal numbers male and female students were chosen randomly. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared two tools for the study. The first tool was observation form consisted of 42 paragraphs in different five fields. The second tool was to test the historical skill which formed from 17 multi-choice paragraphs measuring the historical skill, and the researcher verify the validity of the tools and stability, and using the appropriate statistical means were analyzed results showed: 1-History teacher have appropriate teaching skills.2-The historical skills of 11th grade female students were at intermediate level while male students weren't at the ambitious level.3-There is a clear and positive impact of teaching skills on students' acquisition of historical skills.According to the results in the current study, the researcher came out with a number of conclusions, including reliance of the teaching skills and the historical skills identified in the current study of the history teachers, especially for 11th grade students, Training teachers practically the teaching skills to raise their professional competence, The researcher suggested conducting a study on the effectiveness of teaching skills and its relation to acquiring creative thinking skills in history. -Teaching skills, Historical skills.
