Politics of Fear Ba'athism Foundations at Kanan Makiya A philosophical approach

Abstract

The search aims to study the politics of fear in the Iraqi state before 2003 by (Republic of Fear: The Politics of Modern Iraq) by Kanan Makiya, who is the most famous studier for the practice of the Baathist regime in Iraq. In this study, the researcher sought to find out what constitutes the different elements of all these practices, and study of Makiya's understanding for some philosophical and literary texts, as: Lafayette for Thomas Hobbes, The Origins of Totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt, The wretched of the earth by Frantz Fanon, and Kafka's (In the Penal Colony). In addition to, the research focused on the role of violence and the masses in activating the politics of fear.
