Teaching tasks for mathematics teachers and their relation to their direction towards their profession

Abstract

The process of teaching and learning is done through interaction between teacher and learner and because the teacher represents one of the most important elements in the process of learning so it is necessary to study all aspects affecting it in order to advance the educational process to higher levels in order to catch up with scientific progress. We all note recently that some teachers are not inclined to the profession of teaching and that the trend towards it began to decrease for several reasons, so the researcher in this research would like to reveal the relationship between teacher knowledge of his teaching and its impact on the direction of the teaching profession and whether this relationship varies depending on the gender variable . The researcher expressed the research objective with the following questions: 1. Is there a relationship between the teaching tasks of the mathematics teachers and their relation to their direction towards their profession. 2. Is there a relationship between the teaching staff of teachers and teachers of mathematics in secondary schools of their teaching tasks and their orientation towards their profession according to the gender variable. The study sample consisted of (70) teachers and mathematics schools in the day secondary schools in Salah al-Din governorate. They were tested in random stratified manner. The survey sample included (50) teachers and schools. The search tools were 1 - a questionnaire for teaching tasks is the building of the researcher. 2 - a measure ready to measure the trend towards teaching profession. The researcher presented the research tools to a committee of analysts for the purpose of verifying its authenticity. The researcher then applied the tool to a sample of (70) teachers and schools for the purpose of ascertaining stability. The test method was adopted and the test-retest was re-applied at a two-week time interval and the result was an acceptable stability factor. Then, on 3/4/2015, the researcher distributed the final questionnaire on the research sample. The method of delivery and handover was adopted by hand. After the researcher completed the distribution of the questionnaire and collected it, and on 1/5/2015 distributed the meter on the same sample of the research and collection. To address the data obtained by the researcher statistically to achieve the research objectives, the researcher used the following statistical means: Pearson correlation coefficient to find the relationship between teachers' knowledge of teaching tasks and the direction of teaching profession. 2 - the testing of two independent samples to identify the difference in tasks and direction by sex variable. 3- The weighted mean and percent weight to identify the sequence of tasks according to their importance. The results showed that there is a positive correlation between the mathematics teachers' knowledge of their teaching tasks and their orientation towards their profession. And that there is a difference in this relationship depending on the gender variable and based on these results put the researcher some suggestions and recommendations.
