Commissives in the diwan of Shaik Mohammed Ail Haider, The martyr

Abstract

Pragmatics is considered as one of the most important things of modern linguistic schools because it refers to the language as a means of human communication. It analyzes the literary and unliterary texts, follows the language and its function without any restriction composed by the structural or textual approach. John Langshaw Austin has established speech acts theory in 1960 which is considered as the most important one that represent pragmatic study sides. This theory is developed by John's student, Searle as a theory of the constitutive rules for performing illocutionary acts and both John and Searle are linguists in Oxford University.The searcher tries to highlight selected poetic texts from the diwan of Shaik Mohammed Ail Haider, the martyr and tries to analyze them due to the speech acts theory by Searle. The searcher emphasizes on commissives because it is the common point between the two classifications of the leaders of speech acts theory, Austin and Searle.
