Investigating the Performance of Iraqi EFL Teachers in Using Assessment in Teaching

Abstract

This research indicates two parts. The first part is the theoretical part, it will discuss the problem of the study, the aim, the hypothesis, the procedures and the limits of the study. These will be in chapter one. In chapter two, there are four sections. The first section is about the definition of assessment and the differences between assessment, test, evaluation, and feedback. Then there will be exploration to the types of assessment according to the formality, and the differences between summative and formative assessment. In the third section there will be exploration to the approaches of assessment which are, assessment of learning, assessment for learning and assessment as learning. The last part is about principles of assessment; they are practicality, reliability, validity, authenticity, and washback.
