Geographical distribution of cattle breeds in Maysan Governorate for the period 2008-2016

Abstract

Abstract The research study examined and identified the number of cattle animals (sheep ,cows,goats,buffalo ,camels) in Maysan Governorate for the period 2008-2016 ,with their geographical distribution and their variation according to their numbers and types at the level of all administrative units The study showed that there is adifference in the distribution of livestock in terms of number and typs .The center of Al-Amara district has the rest of the units with atotal of ( 136435) head (18,6%) of the total number of cattle in the governorate (15089) head (2.1%) .At the level of species ,the difference is also the other ,sheep came in the largest share in the total (494180)head and (67.2%) of the total cattle ,the last rank with atotal of (8479)head and percentage (1,2%).
