The Evaluation Of The Book Of Mathematics For The First Intermediate Grade Schools From The Supervisors' And Teachers' Of Mathematics Views Directorate General for the Education of Diyala

Abstract

The following study was conducted in Iraq , purposefully it aimed at evaluating the book of "mathematics" for the first grade intermediate schools/ first edition 2016, from the point of view of the teachers and supervisors concerning (the language of the book, content, examples of the book, style and presentation, calendar). The researcher used the descriptive method and chose a sample of teachers who study this book for the first grade in the intermediate and secondary schools in the district of Baquba, respectively as (42) teachers divided as (13) male teachers, and (29) female teachers in addition, (6) male supervisors and (4) female supervisors in the district of Baquba. The researcher conducted the questionnaire as a tool for his research. The questionnaire was built on the basis of previous studies and scientific literature. Depending on the researcher previous experience in teaching the book the researcher has found a tool which has been validated by a group of jury members and specialists in teaching methods and methods. Also, the study stability was examined through the re-test method, Pearson correlation coefficient . After applying the questionnaire to the study samples and analyzing the data using the appropriate statistical means, the researcher reached the following results : 1 – There is no clarification of the topics of the book as the topic begins with solving the examples, but some definitions that do not meet the purpose . 2 – There is an accumulation of geometric concepts in the book, which affects the students' comprehension and delays learning. 3 – The content of the book is at the advanced level in comparison with the first grade intermediate students thinking level. The researcher recommended the following : 1 – making some amendments to the topics of the book and add a broader explanation of concepts before solving the examples . 2 – Mitigating geometric concepts in the book and postponing some of them to the second grade intermediate.
