Abstract

Research Summary The aim of the research is to identify the motivation and its relation to the academic achievement of the students of the Department of Arabic Language at the Faculty of Education for Human Sciences, Karbala University. To achieve this, the researchers selected a sample of 160 students from the Department of Arabic Language at the Faculty of Education for Human Sciences / Karbala University. To measure the motivation of the students (the research sample), the researchers prepared a measure of motivation, consisting of (40) paragraphs, and built the researchers measure the academic achievement of (18) paragraph, presented to the characteristics of the known metastatic. After the introduction of statistical data in the program (Microsoft Excel), and the statistical bag (Spss) the following results were obtained:It was found that there was a significant increase in the value of the arithmetical mean for the students of the Arabic section in the motivation scale.2- There are no statistically significant differences between female and male responses according to gender variable in the motivation scale.3 - found that there is a significant increase of students of the Department of Arabic language in the measure of academic achievement.4- There are no statistically significant differences between the female and male responses according to the gender variable in the academic achievement scale.The correlation coefficient between motivation and academic achievement is very natural and has been confirmed by many studies and previous studies including (Sahloul, 2005) and the study (Marei and Nofal, 2008) .After reaching these conclusions, the researchers recommended some recommendations and suggested some suggestions to complement their research and extension.
