Morphometric and analytic study of axillary artery course and its branches

Abstract

The axillary artery course shows so many variations that differ from one person to other and it becomes confusedly to assign the commonest pattern of its course. Fifty upper limbs that had been studied at Forensic Medicine Department of Tikrit Teaching Hospital in Salah-Aldin governorate, and dissected to explore the axially artery, freed from neighbor structures to establish the course of axillary artery, prevalence of deviations from the usual description & to analyze the data with other related studies. The axillary artery gives 5 branches in 36% of cases and 6 branches only in 28% of them; the common named branches of axillary artery arise at variable distances from point of origin of the parent trunk either directly or in common with some other branch from its different parts.
