Response of Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) to Different Sowing Date

Abstract

Afield experiment was conducted at a field of farmers in the right side of Euphrates in Hit town at the summer season 2010.This experiment was carried out by (RCBD) in arrangement by spit-plot design with three replication. Planting date was according in main plot (1 April , 15 April , 1 May , 15 May ) genotype was in subplot ( 14, 16 ,local , Saadia). The objective of this studies were to determine suitable planting date of peanut under the environment of conditions of Hit . Yield and yield components were : Number of pods , Number of seeds, pod yield ,seed yield, Weight of 100 seeds and protein content% . The results showed that first planting date(1 April ) was surpassed the other significantly at number of pods / plant (107.4 pod ) , number of seeds / plant (110.5 seed ) , Weight of 100 seeds ( 85.58 g ) , pod yield (8.27t.ha -) , seed yield ( 4.60 t.ha-) and protein content (23.3%). While the local variety surpassed them significant at : number of pods/ plant (114.5 pod ) , number of seeds/ plant (115.4 seed ) pod yield (7.70 t.ha -) and seed yield (4.46 t.ha- ) . But Saadia variety was significant at weight of 100 seed (100.5) gm and there was a significance interaction between planting date and genotypes .
