Comparison of some genotypes of wheat for morphological characteristics and the yield components

Abstract

There were plant ten wheat genotypes , seven mutation (7 , 26 , 38 , 46 , 53 , 63 , 83) , durum wheat (door 85) – wheat number 17 and abu – graib cultivar . all genotypes were grown in sandy loam soil at winter season 2009 – 2010 , in al –sufia district , a rural area in Ramadi city . genotypes input with randomized block design at three replicates were used . The aim of the experiment is to understand how are grown and product this genotypes in th west of Iraq . The number of tillers/ plant ,plant height , length of flag leaf , spike length , number of kernels / spike , weight of 1000 kernels, date of maturity , lodging and grain yield were measured . Genotypes did not differ significantly of grain yield , number of kernels / spike , number of tillers .but abu – graib cultivar and mutation 7 , it gave high rate of grain yield , number of kernel/spike , about (1240.25 ,1154.83) kg/D (62.3 , 63.1) kernels / spike respectively . While it significantly different of (weight of 1000 kernels , spike length , flag leaf length , plant height) . Durum wheat (door 85) gave high rate of weight 1000 kernel about 48.6 gm , so that (wheat 17) above in giving high rates of , spike length 12.4 cm , flag leaf length 29.2 cm , plant high 95.4 cm . Genotypes are different between each other in physiological maturity , abu – graib cultivar came early as at 9 April , while mutation (82) late at 17 april , length of maturity period about 10 – 15 day for each genotypes .The best genotypes for lodging resistance abu – graib cultivar and wheat 17 . but another genotypes are slightly or middle resistance of lodging . I can say , this genotypes of wheat is growing naturally and gave economic yield .
