STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF DIE PROFILE ON THE GENERATION OF HEAT AND THE EQUIVALENT STRESSES PRODUCED DURING EXTRUSION PROCESS

Abstract

The distribution of temperature and its equivalent stresses is studied, during the forward extrusion process, and investigated the effects of die profile on that distribution were investigated. The finite element method represented by ANSYS ver.5.4 program is used. Two cases are presented, the first when the die profile is straight, and the other when it is curve. Results show that the temperature and its distribution are not affected by changing the die profile, and the equivalent stresses are directly proportional to the change in the degree of curvature of the die profile from straight to curve
