Enhancement the Performance of Condenser of Split Type Air Conditioning System by Using Evaporative Cooling

Abstract

The reduction of energy demand is a major concern in areas with very hot weather conditions about 50Co. This can be achieved by using more energy efficient equipment. Evaporative cooling provides a low cost, energy efficient and environmental friendly alternative to traditional Air Conditioning. In this study, a simple design of applying indirect evaporative cooling which investigated experimentally to improve the coefficient of performance of split unit and power consumption. This model consists of a cooling pad behind condenser and injected water on it to reduce air temperature before it passes over the condenser. The experimental results show that the coefficient of performance increases by about 73% and the power consumption decreases by about 18%.
