The effect of IIe-Ne Laser on Candida albicans that isolated from the diabetic patients' mouths

Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the effect of HeliumNeon Laser (632.8 nm) on the growth of the pathogenic yeastCandida alb, icans that isolated from the mouth of diabeticpatients.Twenty five swabs were taken from the mouth of diabeticpatients who were suspected to have a candidiasis. Only (13)(52%) swabs showed positive cultures. The isolates were divided into two groups: group I (onetest tube) was remained without irradiation (controlled), andthe group II (six test tubes) were exposed to FIe-Ne Laserradiation for different periods of time (5-30) min, and energydensities (9.55-57 .32) J/cmz.Results revealed the clear effect of He-Ne Laser radiationon the percentages of the cells survival and the percentages ofcolonies diameters of Candida albicans.
