Abstract

This study included a study of the effect of using various moldboard plow depths as well as effect of practical speed of mechanical unit (Tractor + Moldboard plow) on the physical characteristics of soil and plant growth of maize crop, the experiment study was the effect of the following factors: - Tillage depths (15, 20 and 25 cm), Three practical speed of mechanical unit (2.34 , 3.55 and 4.7 km/hr ). The properties which were studied properties were: bulk density , soil moisture percentage losses , Soil Resistance Force To Cut and Consistency ,the number of seed per ear, the number of plants per square meter , The results showed the tillage depth affecting on bulk density , soil moisture percentage losses increasing of tillage depth caused an increasing in bulk density and soil moisture percentage losses , beside of research results showed the tillage depth affecting on Soil Resistance Force To Cut and Consistency increasing of tillage depth caused an increasing in Resistance Force To Cut and Consistency ,The results showed the practical speed of mechanical unit affecting on bulk density ,soil moisture percentage losses increasing of practical speed of mechanical unit caused an increasing in bulk density, beside of research results showed the practical speed of mechanical unit affecting on Soil Resistance Force To Cut and Consistency, The research showed tillage depth 15cm with practical speed of mechanical unit 2.34 km/hr. best the number of seed per ear.
