And Scientific ResearchUniversity of KarbalaCollege of Education for human studiesThe Effectiveness Of Using Class Activities In Acquiring AndConcepts By The Students Of TheSustaining GeographicalFirst Year Intermediate SchoolsBy StudentAzher Muhammad Ali KadhimAziz K.NaiefAbstractThis research aimsknow (the effectiveness ofusing class activities inacquiring and sustaininggeographical concepts bythe students of the firstyearintermediate schools).To achieve this aim, theresearcher has constructedtow nil hypotheses:1.Statistically there is nosignificant relation at(0,05)level between the averagemarks of the experimentalgroup taught by using classactivities and of thecontrolled group taught bytraditional method in the testof acquiring geographicalconcepts.2. There is not such asignificant relation alsobetween the two group inthe test of sustaininggeographic concepts.The research has beenconducted on the first- yearintermediate and secondarymorning schools for girls,belonging to the generaldirectory of education inKarbala.The sample, which waschosen from the first- yearstudents of summayeintermediate school,randomly consists of (68)students.The material to be testedwas the first four chaptersfrom the textbook ofgeography, principles ofgeneral geography for thefirst- year intermediateschools (20) geographicalconcepts were identified,and (112) behavioral goals .The test of acquiringgeographical conceptsconsists of (60) items ofmultiple- choice type inagreement with the threeprocesses of measuring theacquiring ofconcepts(defining theconcept- recognizing theconcept- applying theconcept) the test wasassured for its validity,reliability and psychometricfeatures.The data were analysesby using(t-test) the resultsshowed that theexperimental group whichwas taught by using classactivities has surpassed thesecond group taught bytraditional method in bothtests acquiring geographicalconcepts test, andsustaining geographicalconcepts test.In the light of the findingsobtained, the researcher putforward the followingrecommendations:1.Concentrating on classactivities as a fundamentalcomponent of lessonplanning.2.Having booklets or leafletsto explain the goals ofeducational class activitiesfor all stages to helpteachers of social scienceswhen teaching thesesubjects.3.Constructing trainingcourses for teachers ofgeography to be aware ofthe importance and use ofthese educational classactivitiesThe researcher suggeststhat the following studiesshould be carried out: -1.Conducting a similar studyfor other different stagesand other variables such ascreative thinking andproblem solving.2. Conducting a similarstudy for other subjects.
