Acomparative Study of Dietary Behavior Among Primary school Pupils for Some Schools in Soran

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the differences in dietary behavior of pupils (girls and boys) for some of the primary schools in Soran, as well as study of the relationship between dietary behavior and body mass index (BMI) . The researchers conducted this study in two schools; one for them for boys and the other for girls in the environment with equal economic and social level of (Sarkawt Boys‘ School) and (Haval girls’ School) (50) pupils from Sarkawt School and (50) pupils from Haval School . A questionnaire was designed including 4 indicators (food culture, eating habits at school, dietary behavior and dietary behavior in trips and events)to identify which dietary behavior has positive or negative impact on the four ndicators. The researchers used the following statistical methods treating the results: (percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson's Coefficient of Correlation and (t) for arithmetic means interconnected.The researchers arrived at the following conclusions:1.Percentages generally show a very close relation ship between study samples especially high retating to the indicator of the food culture and dietary behavior.2.There is a significant correlation in the indicator at food culture and dietary behavior with a body mass index in the Sarkawt Boys’ School.3.There is a significant statistic correlation in the indicator at food culture with body mass index for Haval Girls’ School.
