Egocentrism with Outstanding Students

Abstract

The current study aims at identifying :1.The degree of egocentrism with outstanding students.2.The significant differences in egocentrism according to the variables of gender ( male & female ) and class ( second & intermediate stage ). The sample of the research consisted of (400) students for both (male & female) in the second and third intermediate at outstanding school who were stratified randomly chosen at General Directorates of Education in Baghdad and Diyalas' provinces . To measure the egocentrism with outstanding students, the researcher adopt a scale constructed by Enright et al. (1979). Face validity & construct validity have been extracted . While The reliability has been extracted by test and retest and Alpha – Cronbach formula , so the reliability coefficient was (0.80) and (0.78) as a straight line. The scale includes ( 15 ) items which are distributed into three aspects , (5) items for each. According to data research processing, the researcher used statistical methods to achieve it, namely; ( Pearson correlation coefficient , Alpha – Cronbach formula and T-test for one and two independent samples. The results of the research shows the followings;1-Egocentrism exists in the sample of research .2-Egocentrism does not affect by the gender ( male & female ) nor the class ( second & intermediate stage ).the gender
