National reconciliation and its impact on undermining violence in Iraq

Abstract

The situation in Iraq today is in urgent need to achieve inclusive national reconciliation. Iraq will not be stabilized without such reconciliation, so long as to be genuine reconciliation, not that of mottos, particularly in light of the conflict with Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Iraq's need to unite and put aside the differences between the various political and social components is increased. Therefore, achieving constructive national reconciliation will be a real restraint of violence in Iraq, since it would reduce the number of opponents of the political process, who will definitely play role in nation-building. The terrorist groups will lose their influence in many areas, by not providing them safe havens.
