The Correction of the Coinage of Verbal Nouns with the Reference to the Old Arabic Lexicon as Adopted by Contemporary Iraqi Researchers

Abstract

The study dealt with the contemporary Iraqi researchers' efforts in correcting the verbal nouns coinage in the old Arabic lexicon. Correction is one of the old linguistic phenomena which began with the existence of the first lexicon in the Arabic language (Al-ain/العين )by Khalil Bin Ahmed Al-farahidi (170 D.)to Taj Al-a'arous by Al-Zubaidi (1205A.H.).The study aimed at studying such corrections after shedding light on their inflectional coinage then exposed to the linguistic lexicons and the other books especially the old and modern literary books to identify the mistake and right uses in the correction. The scientific material of the study prompted the researcher to classify the study into:1.The correction of the coinage of verbal nouns of the metrical pattern (Tifa'al).2.The correction of the coinage of verbal nouns of the metrical pattern (tafe'el).3.The correction of the coinage of verbal nouns of the metrical pattern (tafi'lah).4.The correction of the coinage of verbal nouns of the metrical pattern (fia'alh).5.The correction of the coinage of verbal nouns of the metrical pattern (mufa'elah).6.The correction of the coinage of verbal nouns of the metrical pattern (Istifa'al).
