Economical and Environmental Effects of Cultured Fish Cages: A Case Study, Babylon, Iraq)

Abstract

This research was conducted in Al-Mussaiab district during the last quarter of the last year 2012. Three kilometers far from Al- Mussaiab bridge in Babylon province. The sample included 23 fish cultures, 50% of the total cultures. Results reveled that there was no pollution due to the region, meanwhile the study implied some negative effect of cages on the water purification stations by the odor and taste, in addition the results that all cages projects were of economical benefits depending on economical parameters, money income, total added value and net added value which were equal 2671, 2891 and 2671 million dinars. Projects caused 256 work chances as well the work of project owners with their families.
