Legal Term and its Argumentative Functions in the Discourse

Abstract

ABSTRACTEtymology is considered as a branch of lexicology and covers specific terms appertaining to each field of knowledge .The present research paper endeavours to fathom linguistically and etymologically the legal term in the legislative discourse and employs certain pragmatic and discourse analysis devices that are highly developed in the West. As a matter of fact, the study depends mainly upon a scientific assumption saying that for a term in any discourse, regardless of its kind and gender, specifically the legal discourse, purports an argumentative discourse force casting harmony and success into the legal utterance; the project reverts to the specific terms to dominate the legal argumentative debate.
