Abstract

This is an extracted paper from the M.A. thesis entitled " TheSemantic Level in the Poetry of Maan ben Aws AL-mazin" which isconcerned with the study of the following .First : the pronunciation and meaning , it is notable that the thepronunciation and meaning are among the issues which the ancientrhetoric have searched and in which the opinion have been many .Second : homonym : which the mention of something and in meaningThird : synonym : the provision of replacement of one another.Forth : the effect of Pre- Islamic and Islam on the meaning . It isnotable that the poet of Maan ben AL-mazin has lived through twoepochs , he was influenced by the Pre- Islamic and Islam utterances .Fifth: the odd which is the opaque of the words called (alhawashi)meaning the less used utterances and words .
