Purification of water from Amaranth Dye by adsorption method using pomegranate peel.

Abstract

Pomegranate peel was tested for its ability to adsorb Amaranth dye from solutions with alterationsin the parameters such as pH, contact time, sorbent weight, and temperature. The adsorption process was analyzed on the basis of pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-orderkinetic models and also by Dubinin-radushkevich ,Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models. Themaximum adsorption capacity for pomegranate peel calculated it was observed that under LangmuirIsotherm models and it found equl to 3.448mg/ gm at 25C◦.The adsorption data were fitted withLangmuir Isotherm models and various second order Kinetic equations .Thermodynamic parameterssuch as the changes of free energy, enthalpy, and entropy were also evaluated. The results indicatedthat the sorption of Amaranth dye onto the pomegranate peel was an endothermic process.
