Induction of Chromosomal Poly Ploidy by Colchicine as Effect Growth and Flowering on Two Cultivars of Carnation ( Dianthus caryophyllus L.).

Abstract

This study was carried out in the experiments field of Horticultural and land scape Department , College of Agriculture , University of Diyala during agricultural seasons 2013 - 2014 on two cultivars Dianthus caryophyllus Chabaud and Gigante, to investigate effect of the treatment with four concentrations of the mutagen colchicine: (0, 500, 750, 1000 ) mg.litre-1 , interacted with two soaking duration 6 and 12 hr. ,on growth and flowering yield , by using factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Each treatment replicated three times. The results showed that obtained were no significant differences between the two cultivars in stomata length ,plant height , days number to flowering , flower stalk diameter and plant flowers number expect chloroplast number as significant superiority of Giganet on Chabaud which was 13.88 cells.gaurd-1 . it also showed 1000 mg.litre-1 concentration a significant superiority of in stomata length , chloroplast number ,days number to flowering , flower stalk diameter, plant flowers number and Lasting flower age vase for amounting were 2.5 ml/micron ,18.5 cells.gaurd-1, 90.42 day, o.96 cm , 24.81 flower /plant and 12.5 day respectively . Soaking period no significant differences found in stomata length ,chloroplast number , flower vase age 6 hours soaking period shown significant differences in plant length, early flowering and 12hours soaking period shown significant differences in flower stalk diameter and number of flowers / plant .
