Measurement of natural radioactivity in ceramic samples by using (HPGe) detector

Abstract

In the present work, we have measured the specific activites, radiation, hazard indices of natural radionuclides for ceramic samples for ten available origins, by using high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector. The results obtained have shown that, the highest value of specific activity of U-238 which was equal to (26.750 Bq/kg) from ceramic sample Iranian origin, while the lowest value of specific activity of U-238 which was equal to (11.360 Bq/kg) from ceramic sample Egyptian origin, while the highest value of specific activity of Th-232 which was equal to (29.850 Bq/kg) from ceramic sample Iranian origin while the lowest value of specific activity of Th-232 which was equal to (17.640 Bq/kg) from ceramic sample Egyptian origin, while the highest value of specific activity of K-40 which was equal to (281.520 Bq/kg) from ceramic sample Iranian origin, while the lowest value of specific activity of K-40 which was equal to (103.930 Bq/kg) from ceramic sample Egyptian origin, all ceramic samples are below the allowed limit as well as all ceramic samples are safe for consumption and does not constitute a danger to the health citizens. Keywords : (HPGe) detector , ceramic samples, specific activity, hazard indicies.
