Abstract

The Current Financial Crisis and Iraq's Resort to the International Monetary Fund effects and other alternatives This study examines the various aspects of the current financial crisis facing Iraq as a result of the decline in oil prices, a resource on which Iraq relies almost entirely on funding its budget and pressure on government expenditures, especially the financing of the war on terror, the imbalance of the productive structure, The research also highlighted the Iraqi government's actions to deal with the crisis, including the reform package and the option of borrowing from the International Monetary Fund to finance the budget deficit. The research focused on this option and we studied it, analyzed it, The study concluded that the choice of borrowing method to solve financial crises, although an immediate solution is appropriate in the short term, but it is not optimal solution in the long term and will not bear positive effects on the economy unless accompanied by a series of actions and reforms that contribute to Solving the crisis such as controlling expenditures, diversifying sources of income, fighting corruption, supporting and encouraging the private sector, and adopting good governance indicators.Key words: current financial crisis, IMF, negative and positive effects of external borrowing, economic reforms.
