The Training Needs For Teachers Children With Autism Spectrum (ASD) of In-Service Training Programs and their Relation with Some Variables

Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the training needs for teachers of children with autism spectrum of in-Service training programs and their Relation with Some Variables.. The study sample consisted of 73 teachers of children with autism spectrum disorder. They were chosen deliberately from 8 centers of private centers and institutions that provide educational services for those children in Amman city. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared a scale composed of 48 items distributed on tow subscale are: the scale of theoretical training needs and the scale of practical training needs. The tool achieved a good validity and reliability semantics.The study found that the teachers estimated to the training needs were medium in both the theoretical and practical training needs, also it found that there were no statistically significant differences in teachers' estimates of the theoretical and practical training needs related to the teaching experience of teachers and educational qualification. The study recommends to conduct continuous assessment for needs of teachers of children with autism spectrum disorder, and to provide the specialized training program for teachers in autism spectrum disorder in pre-service and in-service programs that focus on the theoretical l and practical knowledge and skills.
