THE EFFECT OF VERTICAL TILLAGE ON GROWTH AND YIELD PROPERTIES OF BROAD BEAN (Vicia faba) UNDER DIFFERENT SPEED AND PLOWING DEPTHS

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted of to evaluate the effect of verticaltillage on some growth and yields properties broad bean under different speedand plowing depths in the field of the collage of Agriculture / University ofBaghdad in 2014. The experiment carried out by using split-split plot designunder randomized complete block design with three replications. Three levels ofspeed tractor included: 4.250 and 6.417 km/hr which represented main plot andtwo levels depth of tillage included: 10-15 and 15-20 cm which represented subplot and four level of tillage system included: rotary plow , chisel plow verticalon rotary plow , rotary plow vertical on rotary plow and moldboard plowvertical on rotary plow which represented sub–sub plot were used in this study ,Plant height , average weight 100 seed , no. of tillers / plant and yield of broadbean. rotary plow , chisel plow and mold bord plow was used in this experimentfor tillage. The results showed that the speed 4.250 km/hr and depth 0-15 cm androtary plow vertical on rotary plow was superior in getting highest plant heightstood 82,00 cm , average weight of 100 seed 206 gm , No. of tillers 5.33/plant andyield of broad bean stood 101.00 gm/ m². Accordingly using 4.250 km/hr speedand depth 10-15 cm and rotary plow vertical on rotary plow which gave the bestfield indication are recommended.
