Air pollution and its impact on the urban environment of the city of Kirkuk

Abstract

The air pollution is one of the most dangerous types of environmental pollution because it is easy to spread to large areas, and because of its effects and risks on urban complexes in cities, as a result of the large development in industries and to the escalation of very large quantities of gaseous pollutants and suspended dust particles in the atmosphere component of an unhealthy polluted environment In the sky of the city of Kirkuk. The polluted air components were analyzed and eight stations were selected in a number of residential districts. No2, Co, No2, So2, and atmospheric pollutants were recorded for each month throughout the year. The study concluded by summarizing a number of conclusions. Three levels of air pollution were recorded in the city of Kirkuk, one of which is highly affected by the northern and north-western areas. It is located near the North Oil Company and Kirkuk Oil Refinery, which emits polluted gases, , And the other areas are affected by a medium degree of air pollution represented by the central parts of the city while the other area areas affected by a low degree of air pollution and includes the southern parts of the city.
