Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the role played by the staff at Al-Amal Institute for the Deaf in Kirkuk through their work in the profession of social service, as well as to identify the ways in which professional work can achieve social adjustment for people with special needs (Deaf).The study was based on a sample of 44 individuals through a comprehensive inventory of the Deaf in the Al-Amal Institute. The study used several methods, including (the social survey method, the historical approach, the statistical method), and tools, including (interview, observation and questionnaire). It also used statistical methods, including (the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Chi-square (Chi2), and law of proportionality).The study has arrived at a number of conclusions, including that the staff of the Deaf Institute are working hard to serve the deaf students, and the social specialist contributes to the development of non-classroom activities for them, as the staff of the Institute raise the awareness of parents of deaf students and the cooperation between deaf families and the employees of the Institute contributes to their social adjustment.
