Adopting academic elites on websites as a reliable source of research information

Abstract

In the recent years , electronic sites have attracted the interest of a large number of users everywhere irrespective of their level of education . The academic elites are certainly the most interested among them as they are in constant struggle to keep pace with the latest developments in all branches of knowledge in the world .The present study is an attempt to seek definite answers to such possible questions as: To what extent do academic elites rely on electronic sites as a quick source of information ? What are the methods they apply to test its accuracy ? How they use the information they obtain for academic research purposes ? A qualitative approach has been proposed for the study together with a general survey of a sample of academic elites drawn from the science and the humanities disciplines to show the disparities between the degree of reliance on the information on the one hand and its validity on the other hand .
