Modulation Dynamics For QD Laser On Photonic Crystal

Abstract

Abstract:A quantum dot laser that can be turned on at low pump powers, it is directly modulated at high speedsand that can produce sufficiently high output powers. This is very interesting for applications rangingfrom optical telecommunications and optical interconnects.Quantum dot laser on photonic crystal nanocavities at a low threshold powercomparing to those of single photonic crystal cavity lasers.The system of rate equations is solved by matlab program with ode45 method(4th Runge-Kutta at initial values of the variables of the system).Different dynamics ranging from one period to chaos are produced in the photons density of quantumdot laser under the effect of injection current modulation using a theoretical model. From thetheoretical results, the weak and strong modulation of the injection current led to periodic, self-pulsingand chaotic states.
