The Legal Responsibility of The Iraqi Journalist

Abstract

The press is linked to law from several quarters. From one side linked to the constitutional law. As part of the Iraqi constitution in public freedoms and the freedom of the media, one of these freedoms and related to the criminal law that faces the abuses of some journalists in the course of practicing their profession. The civil law determines the civil responsibility of the journalist in the event of any material or moral offence to others as a result of the publication of a subject. The media is also related to the law in its administrative unit, where the latter regulates the issue of licenses for issuing newspapers. Being as a journalist comes from the freedom of thought and freedom of expressing their self while the existence of law is a necessity, to protect the media and journalist both. Protect the media from sharing folk news and protecting the journalist to express what they see so that the freedom of media and press can not become chaos that may harm the society more than it benefits. On the contrary, the law should not restrict journalistic work, but rather regulate it.
