Social competence and its relation to psychological security in children displaced from areas exposed to terrorism

Abstract

The aimed of research was to identify social competence and psychological security of children aged (9,10, 11, 12) , identify the differences of statistical significance in the social competence and psychological security in children according to gender variables and the loss of one or both parents ,identify the relationship Between Social Competence and psychological security in children, the sample was consisted of (200) students of children who were displaced from areas exposed to terrorism and who are in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades, with 50 students from each stage The researcher adopted the Social Competence Scale for Merrell (1993),and the Psychological Security Scale (Ben Sassi,2013), which is based on a number of elementary schools in Doura city of the Directorate Education of Karkh 2, the results appeared a decrease in Level of social competence and psychological security in children, there were significant difference in social competence and psychological security in Children imputation to variable of loss and for the benefit of children not missing one of the parents, while there are no significant difference in social competence and psychological securityimputation to the gender variable, and the existence of a Relationship of statistical significance between social competence and psychological security in children, According to study results, researcher recommended a set of recommendations and suggestions.
