Argumentation in Albaradony's poems

Abstract

Question has a crucial necessity in argumentative discourse. It is considered the most important act among other linguistic acts that perform influential pragmatic functions. It is also considered one of the guiding mechanisms of argumentative discourse that is proposed by the sender to direct the recipient the intended direction and to achieve the intended goals through influence and persuasion. Question is closely related to Al Baradoni’s poetry; to the fact that it has formed an influential linguistic act in his poetry and a stylistic feature that distinguishes his poetry from others. It is also distinctive in its argumentative effectiveness. This research aims to trace question’s position in his poetry, reveal its argumentative functions and its pragmatic purposes particularly persuasion, influence, persuading the recipient and forcing him to change his reality. The current research has also achieved other purposes dealt with in the conclusion.
