Singularity and Plurality In Ziyarat Al-Imam Al-Hussain

Abstract

The construction of Arabic vocabulary was not an arbitrary one. It has an aim, and any change in this construction is for reason. Construction itself is a purpose which is why the singularity, duality or plurality has a significance connotation in a text. This connotation compel to the context (the speaker's situation, his circumstance, and the listener's situation). Singularity sometimes indicates individuality, other times indicates glorification. The same case can be seen in plurality. The current research found that in Ziyarat Al-Imam Al-Hussain. The singularity of a word may indicate individuality and complete unification as in the words related to God (divinity).Finally, the plurality of a word in talking to great and high persons refers to the glorification and reverence to them.
