خان خواجة في مدينة الحلة، أصالة العمارة وتعدد الوظيفة

Abstract

One of the characteristics of the Iraqi heritage architecture is the character of unity, which is inherited from the Arab Islamic architecture. This classification was based on some common planning elements, which fit the environmental conditions and variables, as well as the functional purposes of each building The most important of these elements is the open dish, the Taiwan and the hall, which we find used in all kinds of Islamic buildings, whether religious, service, educational or military buildings, and there is hardly any heritage building. Hence, as a result of relying on these elements, For Islamic buildings it is possible for any building to make some minor changes without prejudice to the original layout. Khan Khawaja is one of the Islamic heritage buildings that relied on the elements mentioned in its planning. Therefore, we find that the diversity of career in it did not significantly affect its planning and form, despite the diversity of its functional diversity between Tejari, health, military and craftsmen
