APPROACH FOR PREPARATION OF RADIATION ATTENUATED EIMENIA TENELLA VACCINE IN BROILER AGAINST COCCIDIOSIS

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe aim of this research was to standardize the locally preparedvaccine against coccidiosis .The mature oocysts of Eimenia tenella were attenuated by gamma –radiation (200 gray) that did not affect sporozoits excystation .A one – day old male broilers were used which vaccinated by oraladministration with two different doses (5×10 3 and 3×103 oocyst / chick ) at14th day old .The clinical signs , mortalities , weight gains, pathologicallesions, packed cell volume and number of oocyst in cecal content wereexamined . In order to examine the efficacy of vaccine to produce a protectiveimmunity, the vaccinated groups were challenged on the 20th day postvaccination , with virulent E. tenella strain at dose of (5×104 oocysts) .This experiment demonstrated high levels of protection (99%) againstthe disease specially with 3×103 oocysts /chick .This vaccination program gave good weight gains without any clinicalsigns till marketing compared with infected group
