The Relationship between Information processing and Cognitive Motivation of students at the Basic Education College/Mosul University

Abstract

Information processing has emerged as one of the new dimensions of the development in the cognitive trends regarding its view of the teaching and instructional process .Information processing is based on the assumption that the teaching process is affected by the method retained and recalled. Moreover, every previous stage is essential in the teaching process for there must to be a method for retaining information. The function of the human mind is to deal with situations and problems which face the human being and to find solutions for them as well as utilizing the information and external effects for the person's interest , since there are internal and external factors that direct the person's conduct in a certain direction to achieve a certain goal which are called motives. Hence, the importance of realizing the relation ship between information processing and cognitive motivation and the significance of the differences according to the variables of : sex and specialization . The study sample consists of 160 students (males and females). Information processing scale and cognitive motivation were used as two tools for measuring the study variables. The superficial validity of the two tools was found by presenting the tools to a panel of experts, while the stability was found by means of re-application . The data were analyzed statistically by the (spss) programm and the statistical tools such as calculated mean , Pearson correlation factor and T-test.The findings are : 1.The study sample has high degress of information processing and strong cognitive motivation . 2.There exists a positive correlation between information processing and cognitive motivation .3.There is a statistical significant difference in formation processing in relation to the study variable (scientific or humanitarian)
