Effect of seeds soaked in β-Aminobutyric Acid on protection of cucumber plant from Pseudoperonospora cubensis (Berk &Curt) Rostow under plastic house conidition

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of β – 1, 3- aminobutyric acid (BABA) as a resistance inducing agents in cucumber plants against downy mildew disease caused by Pseudoperonospora cubensis (Berk & Curt.) Rostow. Results of this study revealed that there was a significant effects of the above treatment in reducing the leaf disease index (DI) and the rate of disease increase (r) compared with control treatment. Results also indicated that BABA achieved the highest degree of control when seeds soaked at 1% of BABA for 2 or 4 hours, this treatments win significant on the treatments by using water (control). Results of this work also revealed that the higher the concentration used the more effects was got compared to the lower concentration. The results showed induced systemic resistance of plant was increased positivelly with time of seeds soaking in (BABA).
