Presence of predominant cockroaches species of Blattelid (Dictyoptera) in recedential unit in Baghdad city

Abstract

Surveying studies to determine the presence of predominant species of cockroaches using traps as a device indicated that 80% of residential units were infested with Blattella germanica (L.). The range of weekly capture rate of this species was 0.4–3.06 individual/ trap .The capture rate differed according to different locations within each residential unit . It was found that the refrigerator was the most suitable location for the presence of German cockroaches. The weekly trapping rate at this location was 3.63 individ./ trap, while there was no occurrence of this species in bedrooms.The results showed that 50% of these residential units were also infested by brown-banded cockroach, Supella Supellectilium (S.), The range of weekly capture rate of individuals of this species was 1.3-2.28 individ./ trap, and the highest capture rate was found in kitchen cabinets 1.89 individ./ trap/ week .
