DETERMINATION OF THE OPTIMAL PERIOD FOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE, PRACTICAL APPLICATION IN THE WORKSHOPS OF TECHNICAL INSTITUTE OF BABYLON

Abstract

This research aims to use mathematical and statistical methods to determinate an economical Periods of Preventive maintenance to machinery of Technical Institute of Babylon. It's known, that cost of maintenance at the beginning of use any machine is less from revenue then the cost gradually increases with age of machine and may be increases with rates exceed economical revenue of machinery. Thus, an optimal period for maintenance must be determined specially preventive maintenance to decrease the cost maintenance from one side and increases the age of machine on the other hand.This research deals with controlling the stoppage to machinery in the turning workshop for six months after total annual maintenance and calculates the percentage of number of stoppages at the end of every month and cost of total maintenance that it depended in an optimal decision to determinate an optimal period of preventive maintenance.
